Gold, silver and copper leafing is easy and can transform just about any paintable object into a glistening work of art. Light switch covers, picture frames, decorative bowls and boxes are all possibilities. I found this small, store display bust at a store fixture outlet. These busts are available in glass and porcelain and are used for displaying jewelry.

Purchase a package of goldleaf and the corresponding adhesive kit from an art store. The kit includes everything you will need, including brushes and a soft cloth. Following the package directions, cover your surface with the base coat, adhesive, goldleaf and sealer. (There is an optional antiquing glaze that was not used in this project.) Because the sheets of metal leaf are extremely delicate and lightweight, make sure your hands are dry and that there is no significant draft near your work area.
